The Livv Ring
The Livv Ring uses a non-hormonal mechanism that works locally within the reproductive tract to prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg. By avoiding systemic hormone delivery, Livv is designed to provide effective contraception while supporting the body's natural physiology.
OUR STORY
About the Founder
Jennifer Johnston, MD, CCFP, DipABLM, is a family physician who has practiced medicine in Nova Scotia for over a decade. Throughout her career, she has supported patients navigating contraception and understands there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every woman brings her own health considerations, values and circumstances to that choice.
After the birth of her fourth child, Jennifer found herself facing those same considerations personally. As she explored her own contraceptive options, she realized the gap she had encountered in her practice was one she was experiencing herself. Women needed more options that provided reliable contraception while fitting the realities of their lives.
That realization became the inspiration for Elle, MD and the Livv Ring. Jennifer is now working to create a new contraceptive option that gives women greater confidence and autonomy in their reproductive health, one that she hopes her own daughters will have available to them.
